i look for mr. g. in the crowd

again

and our eyes

connect.

he nods his head,

gives me a thumbs-up.

it’s like he

is saying,

“you’ve got this, josh.”

and those words,

small steps,

move forward

play in my

ears as i walk toward him.

“I WANT TO

start

a club,”

i tell mr. g.

nat and reenie

come up beside me.

i tell them all

my idea

about a club

for tenth period.

mr. g. says it

could definitely work.

he loves the idea.

i can tell because his eyes get

bigger or maybe

brighter

and when he suggests that he

can be the advisor

for my club

i say yes so loud that

other people around me look up.

and yeah,

he calls it

“your club”

which feels pretty

amazing.
